The Saturday we were there was the
celebration of the 150th anniversary of Central Park. Pretty
cool, huh!? One of the special
events going on that day was a "re-enacted" base ball game between two
vintage base ball clubs. One from NY and the other from Akron,
OH. These guys are very similar to Civil War re-enactors.
They played with official pre-1864 rules. No gloves, a softer
ball, and underhanded pitching were to obvious differences.
Another interesting one was catching the ball on one hop was an out
(but runners could still advance without a tag up).
