Central Park, New York City (July, 2003)

The Saturday we were there was the celebration of the 150th anniversary of Central Park.  Pretty cool, huh!?

One of the special events going on that day was a "re-enacted" base ball game between two vintage base ball clubs.  One from NY and the other from Akron, OH.  These guys are very similar to Civil War re-enactors.  They played with official pre-1864 rules.  No gloves, a softer ball, and underhanded pitching were to obvious differences.  Another interesting one was catching the ball on one hop was an out (but runners could still advance without a tag up).
