That said, here goes my story for the day.
I woke up early for the day, packed my backpack with plenty of
water, my camera, a long-sleeve shirt and had a full battery in my
cell phone. I hustled to CTA to the South Shore Railroad
station in Millennium Station. I got there 4 minutes before
the 8:45 train left only to find the South Shore RR doesn't have
credit card ticket kiosks and the ticket windows don't open until
9am. The conductor told me the fair to Dune Park station
(pictured) was $7.85. Ok, I had $28 this morning...before I
gave my wife my last $20. Uh oh, this isn't good.
Once on the train I gave up my last $8 but
would need $8 to come home. So I launched into a plan of
attack--what to see and do in the park but also, how to get to an
ATM and make it back alive. |
