Philadelphia has long been regarded as a
financial center in the U.S. That start came during the
revolutionary days when the First Bank of the U.S. was begun here.
The bank is well preserved but the "museum" contained therein doesn't
have anything to do with finance...it's about westward expansion.
??? Had the New York Stock
Exchange not boomed and caused the shift of the national financial
emphasis to New York City, Philadelphia might not be dealing with the
forgotten step-child issues it deals with today against NYC. |
