The NPS visitor center is located just
outside the best preserved/restored of the missions--Mission San
Jose. If you plan to visit the missions, certainly plan a stop at the visitor center. They have some great displays but also an interesting layout/model that shows how the missions developed over time and what role the San Antonio River played in their history.
