Mel was hoping for more of a "groomed" area with a beautiful clear pool to swim in.  Not quite.

It was what an oasis is--an area in the desert where water is at or near the surface.  The plants turned green as we got closer, the palms obviously wouldn't exist without it, and we did notice more wildlife--squirrels, birds, etc.
