Lincoln Memorial, Washington DC (August, 2004)

As with most of the monuments they take on a whole different look in the evening.  Well-placed lighting really adds more of dramatic effect to these already dramatic displays.

What's really nice at night as well is the surroundings seem to be calmer--traffic slows down, busy daytime noises disappear, and people thin out and seem to be quieter.

One of the really unique features of the Lincoln Memorial is the reflecting pool in front of it.  So don't forget to spend some time walking around the pool to get a little different perspective.
