Smithsonian Museums, National Mall, Washington DC (August, 2004)

Celebrating 100 years of flight, a special exhibit detailed the Wright brothers attempts at flight.

Other than this replica of the flyer that had the most success, other notable exhibits were a piece of the original propeller, a bicycle built by the brother's shop in Dayton, OH and detailed description of their many attempts.  For more info click here.

Something we didn't know about until we got there and therefore didn't get to check out was a new "annex" to the Air & Space museum in a glorified hanger at Washington Dulles International Airport.  The new center features the space shuttle Enterprise, the Enola Gay, a Concorde, an SR-71A Blackbird and other.  For more info click here.
