National World War II Memorial, Washington DC (August, 2004)

 
The latest addition to the D.C. monuments and memorials is the World War II Memorial.

Opened on Memorial Day 2004 the memorial has lots to offer visitors and is situated between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial right on the eastern edge of the Reflecting Pool.

Each piece of the memorial represents a different aspect of the enormous war from the Pacific theatre to the battles in Europe to efforts back home in the U.S.
