About 1½ to 2 miles from Ponca is the
Steel Creek Campground and horse ranch. On a hot summer day it
really sucks because the trail heads through the camp area and in the
hot sun for about ½ a mile. However, the misery is broken up by the wonderful views of Roark Bluff and the large grass field that is a frequent hangout of the Buffalo River Elk. (To learn more about them, click here.) |
