I have no experience on the Buffalo but
from what I could pick up from others and from my experience that
day, I'd say the conditions put the action on the river at its
toughest. Higher water would have been fast and more dangerous
but would have buried obstacles now barely present allowing you to
slip right past. Lower conditions would have made those
obstacles obvious and slower flow would have allowed easy
navigation. More on the water/river conditions in a second.
Right out of the shoot you are treated
with a chance to run right along one the Buffalo River's signature
bluffs. Streaked and stained they seem to tower above you as
you drift by. On this day water flowed over the edge of them
in places. |
