Climbing in Sam's Throne (or the
surrounding area) requires the guidebook. It is written by
Clay Frisbee. (It is actually out of print as of 2001, but a
new edition should be released in the future.) Since the
Forest Service manages forests and doesn't tend to cater to the
users (like the Park Service might do) the area is tough to navigate
or even find for that matter.
We went with a group from the only local (Springfield) climbing
gym--Ozark Mountain Cliffhangers. There were about 20 of use
and we setup in a area with the climb Mel is working on here called
White Trash (5.8). |
