After much consideration the section we
decided on was Akers to Round Spring.
This is the put-in at Akers, which is
also known as Akers Ferry. The ferry, seen on the right side,
is a privately operated ferry that is still in operation. I'm
not sure how much business it gets, and I'm pretty sure a
high-clearance vehicle could make it across in the late summer /
early fall, but it is a ferry nonetheless.
Akers has a decent amount of services
available such as canoe rental, general store, etc. The put-in
has lots of room to load up and is very accessible from the parking
area. |
