What you see is the Bank of China building, but the square (which is really a large traffic circle with a park in the middle) is surrounded by incredible buildings. Click here to view a panoramic of the square at night.

It is a gathering place for the people of the city and the night we walked through there were musicians playing, nicely-dressed couples taking pictures, groups of 20-somethings hanging out, and then a few tourists (like us).

The square shows the influence of different cultures that have impacted the development of Dalian.
